If you are planning to e-file your return, keep the following thoughts in mind:

The government uses a Master File of last names and Social Security Numbers when checking your electronic return. This Master File is based upon what is on file with the Social Security Administration. Mismatches between your return data and the Master File will cause a rejection to come back for the return. If this is your first time e-filing, use the information as it appears on your annual Social Security Statement.

If you are planning to use a self-select PIN to sign your return you must have your AGI (adjusted gross income) OR your 1040CR Household Income from last year's return. You must also have your previous year's tax due or refund amount. If you don't have these amounts use the one page paper signature form we make available to you. Direct Deposit refunds are just as fast when using a paper signature.
